Bread Buddies Unite!

OFTLOB!
GUESS WHAT THAT STANDS FOR!
Yep!
Oh! For the Love of Bread!
Yahoooo!

Now we 5 minute breadophiles have a place to gasp, giggle and groove to our own drummer!
This is the place to feel free to get giggy about all things bread baking!

This day and age... EVERYONE is health conscious, carb conscious, and whole grain conscious.

Bread is life... people!
It is what the entire world has in common!
It is what keeps the world from starvation!
Every custom, nationality, country, city and state has an
indigenous type of bread they call their own.
From Italian Foccacia, to French Baguettes, to Indian Naan, to Armenian Lavosh to Mexican Tortillas to Jewish Challah and everything in between!
Bread brings cultures together.
In the Bible, breaking bread was a spiritual thing... Jesus chose to spend his last evening
breaking bread with his disciples. They could have danced, cavorted, walked, run away,
hidden, cried, lamented... anything! And they chose a last meal! AND he made a huge deal out of the BREAD representing his BODY!
Bread is BIG in the Bible... remember the Loaves and Fishes?

The PERFECT meal to me is
A baguette, some Sharp Provolone cheese, some fresh grapes and cherries, and
a wonderful glass (bottle, who am I kidding) of Stella Rosa wine.
The. Perfect. Meal.
Andi tells me she could live on bread and fruit forever.
My Bill, ADORES ALL FORMS OF BREAD!

The beauty is in baking it ourselves.
We know what goes in it.
We know what is NOT in it.
We can add all the nutrition we deem necessary... without some one else deciding for us...
AND it is so cost effective!
HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICE OF ARTISAN LOAVES ON THE SHELVES?
yikes!

Enjoy this blog... as much as I hope to.

  1. So far I've made the 100% whole wheat bread. I made the second loaf with dried fruit and walnuts, still using only the ww flour. YUM, it was a hit at our lunch party today:) Later this week I'm going to cook up some pearl barley and add them to the bread. Will let you know how it comes out.

  2. Ok, my kids love the bread. We've been grilling it on a now cracked stone (it wasn't cracked when we started, but oh well)with good results. It's just been to hot to bake inside. I found out that William Sonoma has a pizza grill stone thing for the grill. According to them it cooks your pizza in 5 minutes. My hubby saw it and we're thinking anniversary present to ourselves it's $99. I know that may sound pitiful as a gift, but that's how we roll. Should we get it I'll of course post how we like it.
